CARE PASS PILOT PROGRAMME

Get your injured workers back to safe, suitable duties faster. Plus, get optional access to Telehealth on demand.

Safetree and FICA have partnered to offer Safetree Certified Contractor FICA Members in the Bay of Plenty and Tairawhiti free* access to this CarePass Pilot Programme, running from 1 September 2026.

Why join The Pilot?

  • Your company roles, duties and alternative duties are pre-prescribed

  • Save time and admin on chasing medical teams

  • Doctors understand your workplace from the first consultation

HOW TO SIGN UP

STEP 1 - Register

Register your crew online or come to one of our FICA/Safetree oboarding events and sign up on the spot.

STEP 2 - We'll set you up

One of our team will book a call and set you up in the app. We'll ask you some questions and load your crew's roles and light duties.

Once you're set up, you'll receive physical Care Pass cards for you and your crew by post. The cards explain how to book your telehealth appointments and what your crew should mention at their next Dr's appointment.

STEP 3 - Appointments

It's business as usual until one of your crew members needs to see the Doctor for an injury or general medical. They can either make an appointment with their normal doctor or book through Care Pass telehealth.

At their appointment they'll need to show their Care Pass card and give the Dr their employer name and job title so they can be matched up in our system.

FAQs

Do we have to use the Care Pass Doctors?

No you do not. If you or your crew member wants to see their doctor as normal, they can.

If their normal doctor is not participating in the Care Pass programme, and they get a medical certificate with a return to work recommendation and suggested light duties that you don't agree with, then you can ask them to get a second opinion.

This can either be:

  • With a medical practice that is connected to Care Pass - when you sign up we'll provide a list of participating medical centres in your region who have are the Care Pass system.

  • OR through the Care Pass Telehealth option

Who pays for the medical appointment?

That's up to you as the business owner. By default, when your Care Pass is activated, the employer is billed. If you are wanting your crew member to be billed directly, you can let us know at set up and we will change the settings in the Care Pass system.
