FICA and the FOA Executive met on 9 September for a positive and constructive joint Board meeting, providing an opportunity to discuss key issues facing New Zealand's forestry sector.
A major focus of the meeting was FICA's presentation of the Contractor Financial Health Survey, which gave FOA representatives valuable insight into the financial challenges and opportunities facing forestry contracting businesses. The discussion reinforced the importance of a sustainable and profitable contractor sector to support the industry's future success.
The meeting also covered a range of industry priorities and provided an opportunity for open and frank discussion between forest owners and contractors. Conversations continued over dinner, allowing members from both organisations to further strengthen relationships and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Feedback from both groups was overwhelmingly positive, with agreement that the meeting was highly worthwhile. Both FICA and FOA support making the joint meeting an annual event and intend to meet again next year to continue building alignment on issues affecting the forestry sector.
