Last week, FICA Members received your annual FICA membership renewal invoices.
We know many contractors are under real pressure right now. Costs are up, margins are tight and the next few months are looking uncertain. Paying a membership fee may not feel like a priority – and we understand that.
Over the past year, FICA has been working hard on the issues that matter most to contractors, including:
Speaking up for contractors with government, regulators and forest owners
Supporting members through health and safety issues, audits and incidents
Pushing back where rules, contracts or costs are unfair or unworkable
Running practical costing and business workshops focused on real-world challenges
Making sure contractors have a clear, credible voice in industry decisions
A lot of this work happens quietly in the background, but it makes a difference.
Why membership matters now
When times are good, it’s easier to go it alone. When times are tough, contractors are most at risk without a collective voice. FICA exists so contractors aren’t left standing on their own when decisions are made that affect livelihoods, crews and businesses.
Looking ahead, FICA will be focusing on:
A contractor financial health survey
More costing and productivity workshops
A senior “future‑proofing your business” workshop
Greater regional focus and on‑the‑ground engagement
A rolling national roadshow and annual function for networking
Renewed involvement in industry awards recognising contractor excellence
Strengthening the relationship with Women in Forestry
Growing sponsorship revenue to provide better support and benefits to members
If you’re under genuine financial strain, please get in touch. We’ve always taken a practical, common‑sense approach and we’re happy to talk.
Thanks for your support and for the work you do every day. FICA remains committed to standing alongside contractors as the months ahead unfold.
